Sugar Cookie Recipe
by Marcie McMurray on October 13, 2011
I have used the same sugar cookie recipe for years. It comes from an old Betty Crocker cookbook. I love the texture and taste of this recipe, and it rolls out easy, and its easy to cut. Enjoy!
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
2-1/2 self-rising flour
1. beat sugar, butter, vanilla and egg in a large bowl with an electric mixer. Stir in flour. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
2. Pre-heat oven to 375 F. Lightly grease baking sheet.
3. Divide dough in half. Roll each half 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Place on cookie sheet about 2" apart.
4. Bake 7-8 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Remove for oven and cool on a wire rack.
